What Is Stress?

Stress is your body’s natural reaction to something that upsets you or threatens your inner balance in some kind of way.  This video explains exactly what happens to the body when stress kicks in and gives some practical tips on how to combat it.

When you are in danger, even it is imagined, the body’s defense mechanism goes into high gear in a process which is known as the “fight or flight” reaction.  Also known as the stress response.

The stress response is actually the bodies way of protecting you. When it works properly you will be focused, alert and energetic. Stress can even save your life in an emergency situation, by giving you the extra strength needed to defend yourself, or by getting you to slam your brakes on in order to avoid an accident.

Stress can keep you on your toes during a presentation at work, and helps you to meet new challenges. It can give you the motivation you need to study for an exam when you’d much prefer to be watching TV or doing something else.

The problem is, that if stress is not properly controlled it can stop being useful and can cause major damage to your health, your relationships, your productivity and your quality of life.  Unfortunately this negative stress can creep up on you without you even realizing it.

Here at Cures For Stress we would like to help you control the stress in your life by giving you tips and lessons on how this can be done. We believe that by tuning in to our website on a regular basis, and practicing our techniques  you will have the tools at your finger tips to be able to control stress and use it in a positive way.
